Hastings SEND Behaviour & De escalation Course
Delivered by Differences Not Disabilities
A practical, supportive course designed for parents and carers of children and young people with additional needs, autism, ADHD, or challenging behaviour.
Across three days you will learn how to understand behaviour, reduce meltdowns, and confidently support your child at home and in the community. This is not teaching you to suck eggs. It is real world guidance used every day by experienced SEND practitioners.
What we cover
• Why behaviour happens and what your child is communicating
• Preventing escalation before it becomes a crisis
• De escalation techniques that actually work
• Emotional regulation and co regulation
• Creating safer routines, boundaries, and expectations
• Supporting anxiety, transitions, and sensory needs
• Looking after yourself as a parent too
Day 3 includes a carefully taught physical intervention workshop. You will learn safe, last resort safety techniques for situations where a child may harm themselves, others, or property. These are gentle, protective strategies focused on safety and restraint reduction, taught slowly and with full support.
